  • Pre-assess current knowledge of U4P3 words
  • Choose a project & brainstorm/organize ideas
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Take U4P3 pretest—grade/discuss answers together
  • Receive “Christmas Carol Project” and read it together; discuss options, requirements, due dates, rubrics, etc.
  • Independent work time to choose project and partner (if applicable)
    • Begin organizing ideas on a separate sheet of paper (rough draft) and brainstorming.
HW:
  • Word Wisdom pgs 84-87 due tomorrow; pgs 88-89 due Wednesday; posttest on Thursday <--NOTE THE DIFFERENCE FROM OUR “NORMAL” SCHEDULE
  • Project Rough draft due by end of class tomorrow; final draft due by end of class Thursday.

  • Design a card, poem or song that reflects Scrooge’s attitude toward Christmas and the Victorian Era
Procedure:

  • Check WW pgs 84-87; correct answers together in class.
  • Complete rough draft of project—due by end of class.
HW:
  • Word Wisdom pgs 88-89 due tomorrow; posttest on Thursday <--NOTE THE DIFFERENCE FROM OUR “NORMAL” SCHEDULE
  • OPTIONAL: bring art supplies (wrapping paper, scrap booking accessories, etc.) to use for the project.
  • Project due by end of class Thursday.

  • Prepare my project for publication by comparing it to a rubric and making necessary edits or changes.
  • Check my current understanding of U4P3 words.
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Check WW pgs 88-89; correct answers together in class.
  • Begin using art supplies to create final draft of project
HW:
  • Study for WW U4P3 posttest tomorrow.
  • Final draft of project due tomorrow—end of class. Be sure to study the rubric again carefully and to ‘grade’ yourself before turning it in!

Thursday, 12/20/12
Daily Objective:

  • Demonstrate mastery of U4P3 words.
Procedure:
  • Copy HW into agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Take U4P3 posttest
  • Perfect final touches on project—prepare for submission by the end of the class period.
  • If finished early: begin completing Word Wisdom 30-word study guide.

Friday, 12/21/12
Team Typhoon Holiday “Fun Friday”à Each AM core class period (Math, Science, Social Studies & Language Arts) will have an activity to complete for the holiday! In the PM, students will be watching Disney’s 2009 version of “A Christmas Carol” (http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/achristmascarol/)

  1. 1st Period Core Classes: Decorate holiday placemats that will be donated to local nursing homes; create holiday cards for bus drivers, secretaries, custodial and other "support" staff that often go unthanked.
  2. 2nd period: (same) Encore
  3. 3rd Period: (same) Encore
  4. 4th Period Core Classes: 7th graders will complete Holiday Lights math activity.
  5. 5th Period: (same) Lunch
  6. 6th Period: (same) 8th graders are watching "Christmas Carol"
  7. 7th Period; (stay in your 6th period class)
