Hello & Good morning, 1st Period! Hello & Good Afternoon, 4th Period
Today's Date is: Thursday, September 20th
Your objectives for today are:
  1. Demonstrate mastery of Unit 1 vocabulary words on Unit 1 (Part 4) Post-test
  2. Demonstrate my ability to read directions clearly and carefully, and to work independently.
  3. Use technology to help me prepare for my Unit Test tomorrow over "A Retrieved Reformation"
  4. Monitor my own progress and contact my teacher or use offered resources for help.

To help facilitate some of our objectives for the day (see above), please complete the following:

  1. Do you know what's going to be on your test tomorrow? Click HERE.
  2. Be sure that yesterday's objectives were met. If you didn't have enough time to complete them all, please do so. (Scroll down on this page to view yesterday's objectives and instructions.) If you would like to print out a copy of anything for yourself to review again at home, you may do so.
  3. Quiz yourself using the "Retrieved Reformation" PowerPoint Study Session/Quiz which can be found HERE: If you would like to print out a copy for yourself to review again at home, you may do so BUT BE SURE TO PRINT MULTIPLE SLIDES PER PAGE (at last 4 per page) SO THAT YOU'RE NOT PRINTING OUT 45 PAGES!!! Use the printer in this computer lab (Black)
  4. Practice your response (either write it out, think it through carefully, or brainstorm with a neighbor) to the Short Answer Response Questions/ Extended Response Practice Questions.
  5. If you still have additional time in the class period, you have two options:
    • OPTION #1: Quietly read/work on your Independent Reading Project. (Another copy of the assignment can be found HERE)
    • OPTION #2: Complete a reflection form/exit slip for Mrs. Tolin by clicking HERE. You don't need to be "super wordy" but your feedback should certainly be more than a few words. This is optional--so please don't take the time to do it unless you have specific feedback that is constructive.
      • Print it when you're done and submit to Mrs. Tolin in person. If you choose to do this from home later, you may email it to Mrs. Tolin instead at: Anna.Tolin@nordoniaschools.org THANKS!

Today's Date is: Wednesday, September 19th
Your objectives for today are:
  1. To check my understanding of "A Retrieved Reformation" by comparing & correcting my answers to the study guide and story map, as needed.
  2. To know what an allusion is, to be able to identify & explain common examples of them including the example from our text ("A Retrieved Reformation")
  3. To demonstrate my completion and understanding of Word Wisdom Unit 1 words, pages 24-27.
  4. To work independently, using technology (and my teacher's direction), to guide and monitor my own learning process.

To help facilitate our multiple objectives for the day (see above), please complete the following:

  1. Open your Word Wisdom book to page 24, write your name on the top of the page and place it on the desk or table beside you to make it easy and quick for Mrs. Tolin to come around and check or collect.
  2. Take out your Study Guide and Story map for "A Retrieved Reformation". If you still need to check your answers or fill-in your study guide, please go HERE. If you need to check your answers or fill-in your story map, go to the same place: HERE and scroll to page 24.
  3. Next, pick up a handout from Mrs. Tolin about Allusions. Independently, read the side that says, "An allusion in 'A Retrieved Reformation'" to understand its definition, example and purpose.
  4. On the backside of the Allusion worksheet, read the directions and complete at least 5 of the 11 sentences/quotations for practice. You will need to read each sentence and identify the allusion in each. (Underline it when you find it.) If you recognize the meaning behind it, write a brief explanation..
    • If allusions still seem confusing or unclear to you, please go HERE for further explanation, practice and examples.
  5. If you still have additional time in the class period, you have two options:
  • OPTION #1: Review/study your Unit 1 vocabulary words in preparation for your Unit 1 Post-test over all 30 words.
